Despite a lot of complaints about the animation featured in the anime, ANN (Anime News Network) has declared that the series has a more serious tone and a better balance between comedy and drama than the first anime series with more interesting digressions from the main plot.
In September 2005, IGN announced that the Naruto anime was listed as the 38th best animated show in its Top 100 Animated Series. The series was broadcast in Japan on TV-Tokyo from February 2007 to March 2017.
